‘Bodog’, which is one of the worlds largest Online Sportsbook, casino and poker portals has officially applied for a U.K. operating license in spite of the fact that their U.S. operations have come under intense scrutiny vis a vis the legality of their activities.
‘Bodog’’s founder Calvin Ayre freely admits that ”Bodog” takes bets from U.S. players but quickly points out that his company does not “operate” there. “We have licenses from sovereign governments to do what we do and that’s how it works on every other industry on the planet”.
Many online casinos have boycotted the U.K. online gambling scene because of its remote gambling tax that was put into effect last year and currently stands at 15%.
‘Bodog’ however, is still trying to expand its operations into the European market.
Now that ‘Bodog’ has applied for a remote casino and general betting license it must pass a ‘fit and proper operator’ test in order to be accepted and according to a U.K. Gambling Commission spokesman, the ‘Bodog’ online gambling license applications are still pending.
